On behalf of the Board, I am very happy to announce that we have selected our new Intern Board Member for the Marketing Association, Alex Williams from Fonterra.
Alex is currently the Global Digital Marketing Manager, Sports and Active Lifestyle, at Fonterra. She is passionate about marketing and already has rich marketing experience within digital, B2B, FMCG and corporate comms. Alexandra has shown great initiative and enthusiasm for her career to date, and we’re excited to see what ideas and thoughts she will contribute to the Board, adding a unique and diverse perspective.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those members who applied for this position. We were blown away with the quality and the number of applications, it really was a tough job selecting the successful candidate. With the high calibre of applicants that came through it certainly supports our view that marketers will continue to play key roles in driving the success of NZ organisations.
Alex will start her 12-month intern at our September Board meeting.
Again, thank you to those that applied for this role and your continued support for the Marketing Association.
Jo Boerema-Barr
Chair, Marketing Association
A note from Alex:
Having completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing, International Business), Bachelor of Science (Statistics) conjoint at the University of Auckland, I went on to start my marketing journey with Fonterra’s Graduate Programme. Three and a half years later I’ve seen a lot of late-nights working on events, delivering websites, picking the yummiest yoghurt flavours and selling our proteins across the world – I can certainly say the rush a marketer feels when they are finally standing at their event or seeing their latest product on shelves still gets me every time. In my current role as Global Digital Marketing Manager (Active Living) I am focused on supporting the sales of our ingredients under Fonterra’s ingredient brand NZMP. My favourite moments on the job are seeing our marketing initiatives drive real value for the sales team (webinars being a big part of this in a COVID-19 world). I am passionate about marketing as a technical skill set and so love seeing it being recognized as such across different business functions. ! I love using social media in my as a tool to find new places to explore or new restaurants to try with friends. Although nothing beats a classic Copenhagen Cone after a walk up the Mount so when I am not at work you will often find me back down in Tauranga enjoying beach strolls with my family and our wee pup Percy.
"Living on the edge of the Millennial and Gen Z border (and literally living on TikTok), I am looking forward to being the voice of young marketers across New Zealand. My hope is that through opportunities like this, myself and other marketers will get a bigger seat at the table of our own organisations."
