NZMA is proud to announce a new partnership with ADMA to bring the Capability Compass to Aotearoa. This internationally recognised framework will help New Zealand marketers benchmark their skills, identify capability gaps, and align with global standards — supporting professional growth and confident decision-making in a fast-changing industry.

Australia’s Association for Data-Driven Marketing & Advertising and the New Zealand Marketing Association have entered into a new agreement to help Kiwi marketers upskill.

Under the partnership, the New Zealand Marketing Association (NZMA) will promote and endorse the ADMA Capability Compass across Aotearoa.

The Capability Compass is an industry-specific skills assessment tool. It’s designed to benchmark capability, highlight strengths and guide investment in the skills that keep marketing teams ahead.

‘Capability is central‘

NZMA CEO John Miles says capability has always been central to what the association does.

“By endorsing the Capability Compass, we can give Kiwi marketers a proven framework to benchmark skills, identify gaps and plan with confidence.

“Working with ADMA ensures our members are aligned to the same standards as their Australian peers and ready for the opportunities ahead.”

NZMA will also map its curriculum with ADMA’s 65-skill framework, ensuring consistency with industry standards.

Benchmarking against industry standards

The ADMA Capability Compass evaluates 13 core marketing capabilities and 65 underlying skills across strategy, execution and analysis. It gives leaders a clear view of strengths, gaps and opportunities at every team level.

ADMA’s vision

CEO of ADMA Andrea Martens says marketers across Australasia face the same challenge: building capability at the pace that change demands.

“This partnership with NZMA opens up access to ADMA’s world-leading Capability Compass for New Zealand marketing leaders. It’s a vital step in giving evidence-based clarity to understand skills, close gaps and make confident decisions about team development.

“This is central to ADMA’s vision of bringing marketers forward into the next era of marketing – equipping them with the tools to navigate what’s ahead. Together we’re creating a shared standard for capability that helps our profession move forward with clarity and impact.”
