The NZ Marketing Association has introduced the new Professional Certification in Advanced Marketing Leadership – an exclusive intensive programme where participants learn from the elite of NZ’s marketing community.

Specialist sessions and panels are delivered by the top marketers from companies including Westpac, Spark, The Warehouse Group, My Foodbag to name but a few plus some of NZ’s best CEOs and CFOs. The programme is aimed at 8 +years marketers, agency people and those who will be the next generation of marketing leaders. It is designed to develop the skills of marketers and prepare them to take on top leadership roles. There are three workshops supplemented with international experts online and mentorship by CMOs

“Industry has been giving us feedback that while we have excellent training for entry to mid-range marketers and we look after the top marketing leaders (CMOs), there has been limited offering for the next generation of CMOs. While many companies offer general leadership programmes, they do not offer anything which is marketing specific. To this end, the MA created an advisory panel of 10 of NZ’s best marketers who have helped design The Professional Certification in Advanced Marketing Leadership” said John Miles, CEO of NZ Marketing Association and architect of the programme

This programme was designed by New Zealand’s top marketers for the next generation of marketing leaders. Participants attend 3 x 2-day workshops in April, May and June 2023 and to gain entry to the programme people must be nominated by their company.

“AML highlights the contemporary issues facing New Zealand’s marketers and is a critical next step for aspiring heads of marketing”  Hone Paul, Director of Marketing, Kaiurungi Ratonga Whakatairanga at the University of Otago.

Highlights of the programme include:

  • UC Berkeley’s Peter Wilton, named as one of the top 10 executive educators in USA, delivering a session on digital disruption
  • Peter Stubbs, preeminent board member and chair of many NZ companies on how to work better with boards and C Suite
  • Jacqui Barratt, founder and CEO of Salt recruitment, now in 19 countries, on developing your personal brand
  • A CEO panel including Peter Cullinane, founder of Lewis Road Creamery on what are the ideal attributes of marketing leaders.
  • Participants being mentored by marketing leaders over a three-month period.

“The AML [is] a well-researched and carefully crafted programme, with learnings that will benefit participants, their employers and their industries at large.”  Fiona Woolley, Head of Marketing & Communications at KPMG

The good news for MA members is that the 6 days of workshop is costing $2950 whilst non-members is $5950. “This programme is an investment in raising the talent in NZ plus we have had fabulous support in four partners Westpac, KFC, Dentsu and Salt who have enabled us to keep the price for members so low,” said John

“We are looking to keep the cohort to a maximum of 25 people, so not all applicants may be accepted into the programme. The response we had at our launch was fantastic with people getting themselves nominated by their managers/CEO’s the next morning!”
