The Keith Norris Charity Golf Cup 2026

Join Us for a Day That Makes a Difference

We’re proud to bring back the Keith Norris Charity Golf Day for its fourth year - a special event where the marketing community comes together for some friendly competition, great company, and an even greater cause.

Held at the beautiful Akarana Golf Club, this is your chance to enjoy a day on the green while helping support Melanoma New Zealand - the only charity in Aotearoa solely dedicated to the prevention, early detection, and treatment of melanoma for all New Zealanders.

This is the Marketing Association’s one and only charity event of the year - a day to connect, unwind, and give back.

The Cause

New Zealand’s Melanoma incidence rate is the highest in the world and all of Melanoma New Zealand’s work is self-funded. This work includes providing almost 27,000 skin cancer spot checks to New Zealanders nationwide and finding over 3,600 suspicious lesions.

We aim to raise more than $80,000 on the day to advance Melanoma New Zealand’s mission of providing information and support to melanoma patients and their families, and to champion the prevention and early detection of melanoma.

The statistics are dire…

  • New Zealand’s melanoma incidence rate is the highest in the world

  • Nearly 7,000 melanomas are diagnosed in New Zealand every year

  • Around 300 New Zealanders die of melanoma every year – in fact, more people die of skin cancer than on our roads

  • Melanoma accounts for nearly 80% of all skin cancer deaths

  • Death rates are higher among men and appear to be increasing.

But… if Melanoma is recognised and treated early enough, it is almost always curable.

Event Rules:

Handicaps

Participants are required to declare their individual handicaps; in the absence of an official handicap, default values of 24 for men and 36 for women will be automatically assigned.

Game Format and Ambrose Rules

  • All players tee off on each hole.
  • The team then selects one shot to be their best, from which they will ALL play their second shot.
  • Then, you may place your ball within one club length of the chosen shot, no nearer the hole.
  • Once on the green, the best positioned ball is marked and all players putt from within 15cm no nearer the hole, until the hole is finished.
  • You must use a minimum of 3 tee shots per player.

Scoring

  • There is only one score for the team per hole. Team captains record the gross score for each hole (number of shots taken to put the ball in the hole plus any penalties).
  • When you’ve finished the 18th hole, the team's net score is calculated by deducting the team handicap from the gross score.
  • The team handicap is calculated by adding together the individual handicaps of all four players on the team, then dividing by 8. For example, if the total handicap adds to 66, divided by 8 = 8.25 is the team handicap.

Dress Code

A respectable standard of dress is always required on the course and in the clubhouse. Jeans/denim clothing, tee shirts, hats, cargo shorts and caps are not permitted in the clubhouse, and shoes with hard soles, sandals and jandals are not permitted. For more information and dress code guidelines, please see the club's website here: Akarana Golf Club Dress Code

Rate of Play

If you lose sight of a ball, have a quick scan of the area but move on quickly to avoid holding up others.
