9. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS AND ONLINE ACCREDITATIONS - OVERVIEW
9.1 The MA offers two categories of qualification through the Training Hub:
Professional Certifications (Core Skills, Digital, and Strategic) - delivered in partnership with the University of Canterbury (UC). Learners who meet all requirements will receive a UC micro-credential (NZQF Level 5 for Core Skills; Level 8 for Digital or Strategic); and
Online Accreditations (Core Skills, Digital, Strategic, and AI) - self-paced online programmes assessed and awarded by the MA.
9.2 Enrolment in a Professional Certification or Online Accreditation constitutes acceptance of these additional terms.
9.3 The additional terms in Clauses 9-16 apply to all Professional Certifications and Online Accreditations offered through the Marketing Association (MA) Training Hub. They supplement the General Training Hub Terms and Conditions, which continue to apply. Where there is any conflict between these terms and the General Terms, these terms take precedence for Professional Certifications and Online Accreditations.
9.4 The purchaser is liable for all fees due. Where an employer has agreed to fund a learner’s enrolment and subsequently fails to pay, the learner remains personally liable for any outstanding amounts. This applies equally to upfront and pay-as-you-go payment options.
9.5 MA membership is not required to purchase a Professional Certification. However, a current MA membership is required at the time of certification to receive, and subsequently maintain (see Clause 15), the MA Professional Certification. Learners who are not members at the time they complete all programme requirements will need to obtain an MA membership before the certification can be issued. The MA will notify the learner if this requirement applies.
9.6 Member rates are available to individuals who hold a current personal MA membership, or who are employed by an organisation holding a current company MA membership.
10. PAYMENT OPTIONS
Professional Certifications
10.1 Two payment options are available for Professional Certifications:
Upfront Payment: the full programme fee is paid at enrolment. The upfront rate is discounted relative to the pay-as-you-go rate; or
Pay As You Go: each workshop is invoiced and paid individually at the applicable per-workshop rate.
10.2 If a learner wishes to switch from one payment method to the other once their programme has begun, they must request permission from the MA and the decision is at the MA’s sole discretion.
Online Accreditations
10.3 Online Accreditation enrolment must be purchased as a complete programme (upfront). Pay-as-you-go enrolment is not available for Online Accreditations.
11. COMPLETION TIMEFRAMES
11.1 Learners must complete all workshops for their qualification within the timeframes set out below. The MA does not guarantee access to programme materials, workshops, or assessment support beyond these timeframes. For Professional Certifications, the work-based project assessed by UC is not subject to this timeframe.

11.2 In exceptional circumstances, completion timeframe extensions may be considered at the sole discretion of the MA and must be requested in writing before the completion deadline passes.
Recognition of Previously Completed Workshops
11.3 Learners may apply previously completed MA workshops towards a Professional Certification or Online Accreditation ("prior workshops"), subject to the conditions below.
11.4 For Professional Certifications - Upfront Payment: prior workshops completed within the 18 months immediately preceding the date of enrolment may be applied. Learners will then have the regular two years from enrolment to complete the remaining workshops. Workshops completed more than 18 months before enrolment may be considered applicable at the MA’s sole discretion.
11.5 For Professional Certifications - Pay As You Go: programme applicable workshops completed within the 12 months immediately preceding completion of the second applicable workshop may be applied. Where prior workshops are applied, the two-year completion window begins on the date the second applicable workshop is completed. For example, if a learner has decided to pursue a Digital Marketer Certification, and previously completed Google Analytics 4 in December 2025, the course could contribute to certification completion as long as their second workshop is completed by December 2026.
11.6 For Online Accreditations: prior workshops completed within the 18 months immediately preceding enrolment may be applied. Workshops completed more than 18 months before enrolment will not be counted.
11.7 It is the learner's responsibility to notify the MA of any prior workshops they wish to apply at the time of enrolment or as soon as practicable thereafter. The MA reserves the right to verify attendance records before recognising prior workshops.
12. CANCELLATION - PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS AND ONLINE ACCREDITATIONS
Ticket Transfers
12.1 Workshop bookings made under a Professional Certification (Upfront Payment) or Online Accreditation are not transferable to another person. The standard transfer provision in clause 4.2 of the General Terms does not apply. Professional Certification (Pay As You Go) tickets may be transferred in line with the regular transfer policy (see Clause 11.2) but only at the MA’s sole discretion.
Cancellation or Postponement by the Marketing Association
12.2 In the case that the Marketing Association cancels or postpones a workshop the learner has booked as part of their qualification, the standard policy applies (see Clauses 4.5 - 4.8). You will retain your credit and be able to use it for a future workshop.
Cancellation by Learner - Pay As You Go
12.3 For pay-as-you-go workshop bookings, the standard cancellation policy in clauses 4.1 and 6 of the General Terms applies: written cancellation must be received at least 10 working days before the workshop to receive a full refund or credit. No refund will be given for cancellations received within 10 working days of the course, or for non-attendance without notice.
Cancellation by Learner - Upfront Payment
12.4 Where a learner has enrolled via upfront payment, the total programme cost is allocated equally across the six workshops.
If a learner needs to cancel their attendance at a specific workshop:
If written notice is received at educate@marketing.org.nz at least 10 working days before the workshop, the workshop credit is retained and the learner may attend a future scheduled session of that workshop at no additional charge; or
If notice is received less than 10 working days before the workshop, or the learner does not attend without prior notice, the workshop credit for that session is forfeited. To attend a future session of that workshop, the learner will be required to pay the applicable per-workshop rate for their qualification.
12.5 The MA acknowledges that genuine emergencies or serious illness may arise. While we cannot guarantee any kind of refund or credit, in such circumstances, learners are encouraged to contact the MA as early as possible at educate@marketing.org.nz. Any consideration outside these terms is entirely at the MA's discretion and does not create a precedent or ongoing obligation.
Cancellation of Entire Enrolment
12.6 Cancellation of an entire Professional Certification or Online Accreditation enrolment (rather than a single workshop) is subject to the following:
Upfront payment enrolments: if cancellation is requested before any workshops have been attended, a refund, minus an administrative fee of 10% of programme enrolment cost, may be issued at the MA's discretion. Once any workshop has been attended, no refund of the upfront programme fee will be issued.
Pay-as-you-go enrolments: fees paid for workshops already attended are non-refundable. Any upcoming workshops may be cancelled in accordance with Clauses 4.1 and 6.
13. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION - PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
13.1 To be eligible for a University of Canterbury micro-credential, a learner must:
Complete six MA workshops: four core workshops and two elective workshops from the applicable programme stream within the allotted time frame (see clause 11); and
Submit and pass the work-based project relevant to their certification and assessed by the University of Canterbury.
13.2 Assessment is conducted by the University of Canterbury. The outcome is pass or fail. The MA has no authority over assessment decisions made by the University of Canterbury. Payment for aforementioned assessment will be taken directly by the University of Canterbury. The payment of the workshop portion provided to the MA does NOT include the assessment fee. Any disputes involving the assessment fee should be taken up with the University of Canterbury directly.
13.3 The University of Canterbury micro-credential (Level 5 for Core Skills; Level 8 for Digital or Strategic) is awarded by the University of Canterbury, not the MA. Issuance of the credential is subject to the University of Canterbury's own policies and requirements, which may change from time to time.
14. ONLINE ACCREDITATION - PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
14.1 Learners must complete all required modules and pass any associated assessments within their 1-year completion window (see clause 11.1) to be awarded their MA Online Accreditation.
14.2 The MA Online Accreditation is awarded solely by the MA and does not confer a qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF).
15. CONTINUATION OF PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION POST-AWARD
15.1 To maintain a current Professional Certification, the holder must maintain membership of the NZ Marketing Association.
15.2 If a Professional Certification holder does not maintain their membership with the Marketing Association, their certification status will be recorded as 'not current'. A 'not current' certification is not revoked, but the holder should not represent it as a currently maintained credential. Certification status may be reinstated upon membership renewal.
16. CREDENTIAL USE AND INTEGRITY
16.1 Upon successful completion of a Professional Certification or Online Accreditation, the MA will issue the learner with evidence of their achievement (for example, a digital badge or certificate). This evidence remains the property of the MA and is issued under license to the individual learner.
16.2 Credentials may only be used to represent the learner's own personal achievement. They may not be shared with, used by, or attributed to any other person.
16.3 The MA reserves the right to withdraw or annotate a credential if it is found that the learner obtained it through misrepresentation, academic dishonesty, or any breach of these terms.
16.4 The MA's general clause 4.8 applies: the MA may suspend or cancel a registration where false information has been supplied, and any refund in such circumstances is at the MA's sole discretion.
17. GENERAL
17.1 The MA reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Learners already enrolled will be notified of material changes and the updated terms will apply from the date of notification.
17.2 These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising under these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
17.3 If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
These terms apply to non-members of the Marketing Association of New Zealand (MA) who purchase a job listing through the MA Job Hub.
Listing fee The fee to list a job on the MA Job Hub is $99 + GST per listing. This fee applies to non-members only. MA members may list jobs at no charge when logged in to their member account.
