At this Christchurch Marketing Meetup, we’re taking a dive into B2B marketing.
In between networking and nibbles, our lineup of local experts will explore some of the most important topics in B2B marketing right now.
1. How B2B marketing is shifting, and what you can do about it.
As a duo act, Helen Shorthouse and Nick Burns will share some of the shifts they’re seeing in B2B marketing, and how New Zealand businesses can adjust their approach without breaking the bank. From the way buyers are buying and your competitors are selling, to the “Growth Model” that isn’t what it used to be, plenty has changed.
2. Blending strategy and creativity to solve real business problems (case study)
Matt Clough will dive into the relationship between strategy and creativity. Using Antony & Mates’ work with VAST Billboards, including the Bill Is Bored campaign, Matt looks at how a clear strategic idea creates the space for bolder creative, gives a B2B brand more personality, and turns an ordinary business challenge into something people actually notice.
You’ll walk away with practical ways to adjust your marketing approach in this changing B2B environment, and new ideas for developing B2B work that drives action now and builds preference for later.
Not in B2B?
No worries, you’re welcome to come along. (And hey, you never know where you might find yourself in a future role!)

Matt Clough
Strategy Director
Antony & Mates
Matt is the Strategy Director at Antony & Mates, where he works across brand, marketing and business strategy for a wide range of organisations. His role is largely about helping clients get clearer on what they are trying to achieve, where the real opportunity sits, and how brand and marketing can support the wider direction of the business.
A lot of his work sits at the front end of a project, shaping the thinking before it moves into creative, content, digital or campaign delivery. That can mean repositioning a brand, developing a go-to-market strategy, identifying a commercial opportunity, or simply helping a team make sense of a messy problem.
Matt is also Co-Founder and CMO of Rool Social, a platform being built for brands managing social media across multiple locations, teams and pages. Across both roles, his focus is on making strategy practical, useful and closely connected to what actually needs to happen next.
Helen Shorthouse
Founder
Shorthouse Consulting
Helen is the founder of Shorthouse Consulting, helping NZ B2B tech and services companies move beyond ad hoc growth to scale.

With 30 years’ experience across sales and marketing, Helen brings a practical, commercial approach to growth.
She's worked across transport, agriculture and tourism, but has found her happy place in tech. Originally from the UK, she's called Christchurch home for 22 years.
Outside of work - she loves mountain biking, travel and hanging out with friends.
