Marketing Futures Collective

Helping to create diversity in New Zealand marketing

Marketing Futures Collective aims to help Māori & Pasifika students find success in the marketing world.

The future of marketing.

Marketing Futures Collective is a collaboration between The Growth Project Whakaahu Whakamua (TGP), Niu Pathways -both of which are programmes within ICE (Inspire, Create, Engage- and The Marketing Association (MA).

Together we provide a unique opportunity for Māori and Pasifika students who have an interest in Marketing to gain a certification and valuable experience within the industry. In the creation of this programme, MA had identified a lack of diversity in the New Zealand marketing profession. This collaboration intends to bridge this gap by encouraging young Māori & Pasifika to consider marketing roles.

The Programme

The core part of this programme will run for 5 days at the Marketing Association office from Monday, 3 July – Friday, 7 July. All 5 core workshops are to be completed in-person during this week.

Monday: Marketing Bootcamp
Tuesday: The Essentials of Digital Marketing
Wednesday: Digital Storytelling
Thursday: The Secret Sauce of Great Copywriting
Friday: Social Media for Marketers

A further one elective is to be completed either in-person or online. There will be 5 different elective workshops for the students to choose from.

The Project/Assessment

The sponsoring companies provide their student(s) a work-based project to undertake as their assessment. This should be relevant to a company’s current or upcoming campaign/initiatives. If the project requires the student to be involved in classified project information, the student can sign a formal NDA prior to the start of the assessment.

Internship

Sponsors will offer their student(s) an internship to introduce them to the marketing industry. The internship portion will take place after the student has submitted their final programme assessment and is required to be a minimum of 4 weeks long. The date(s) of the internship will be mutually agreed upon by both student and company/sponsor. The sponsorship portion can be waived ONLY if it is mutually agreed upon by both company and student.
