Introducing Truestock: Authentic Aotearoa stock imagery

Truestock.co.nz is a brand-new New Zealand stock image library offering exclusive, royalty-free local stock images capturing an authentic, diverse and multicultural Aotearoa.

The concept was born out of the challenges in obtaining high quality, un-staged, stock images that reflect an authentic representation of a diverse New Zealand.

With such immense local photographic talent, connecting the demand with the supply was something that had to be done.

Shot locally by some of New Zealand’s best photographers, the library already features around 10,000 local images and is being added to daily.

Tanmay Desai, co-founder & CEO of Truestock (Ex-Design Director at Designworks) has extensive experience in creating brand identities and art directing photo shoots for some of New Zealand’s biggest brands. This means contributing photographers get agency style briefs led by market insights to populate the stock library with what's actually in demand.

The wide variety of styles and scenarios help marketers or designers choose images that complement their existing brand library.

Truestock also offers a tailored service to get on-brand stock images in a cost-effective manner. This is under their Truestock Tailored offering.

Ethical talent payment is built into the business model so everyday kiwis involved in the photoshoots are paid for by Truestock whether an image gets sold or not.

In the final stages of becoming a New Zealand co-operative, Truestock will be the first platform co-operative in New Zealand. Locally owned and operated, all of Truestock’s photographing contributors become majority co-owners.

Truestock aims to give marketers, designers and business owners easy access to images that truly represent New Zealand. Images are royalty free and start from $40 with exclusive licenses available on request.
