A Brainy Breakfast Recap

For those who were unfortunate enough to miss our sold-out Brainy Breakfast event in Feb, today is your lucky day! Here is a recap of the key highlights from the highly rated event, which was all about Social Media, Content Marketing and GenAI Trends – Predictions for 2024.

So, grab your coffee, pull up a chair, and let's dive into the juiciest takeaways from this marketing fiesta!

Live-streams, AI and a bit of charm: Social content tips from an expert panel

Picture this: you're scrolling through your favorite social media platform, and suddenly, BAM! You stumble upon a live stream from your favorite brand, answering customer questions in real-time. That, my friends, is the magic of going live on socials — a fantastic way to engage with your audience and build those important connections.

And speaking of connections, let's talk about BLUNT. Nope, not a forceful critique, but rather a brand that's nailing it with their unique, stand-out content. We all know that being memorable in a sea of social noise is key.

I don’t know about you, but I know our team can be guilty of creating social content without really thinking about the two-way communication aspect. It's not just about broadcasting your brand message, it's about sparking conversations, listening to your audience, and creating a digital hangout where everyone feels heard – easier said than done though, right?!

And here's a pro tip: finding the sweet spot between eye-catching aesthetics and relatable content is like finding the perfect ratio of long-term brand marketing spend to promotional spend, or balanced attribution modeling time investment, or time on strategy/planning and time doing hands-on work – you get the idea.

Paid social ads shouldn't be the awkward Uncle at the engagement party. Aim for them to be just as charming and irresistible as your organic posts. And hey, why not enlist the help of AI to decipher those tricky analytics and uncover hidden trends? It's like having a digital Sherlock Holmes on your team!

Demystifying the digital conundrum with Meta’s Phil Bonanno

Ever felt like the algorithm was your best friend and worst enemy rolled into one? Our first speaker after the panel, Phil Bonanno, demystified the digital conundrum. Remember, the algorithm is your ally — embrace it, understand it, and let it do its magic in serving the right ads to the right audience.

Choosing the right campaign objective shouldn't be as daunting as choosing your next Netflix binge. Keep it simple, align it with your goals, and let the algorithm work its wonders.

And here's a golden nugget: subcategories are your secret weapon in the battle for audience engagement. Slice and dice your content to cater to different segments of your audience, and watch those engagement metrics soar. Side note, if someone has viewed an ad 4 times and not taken the desired action, this may be a signal of your ad content experiencing creative fatigue – so remember to change it up a bit!

How to entertain, dazzle and be brave on social: Truth bombs from YouTube and TikTok

We were lucky enough to have another couple of amazing expert speakers from TikTok and YouTube who really brought the event home.

I know you’ve heard this before, but it’s important enough to reinforce - Entertaining ads are the superheroes of the marketing world! They are seven times more effective than dull or boring ads. Let’s hear that again, 7 times more effective! And, with research showing that 48% of ads are considered dull, this is something we can all improve on.

2023 brought with it a wave of trends, from curiosity to storytelling to trust-building. And guess what? 2024 is all about bravery. So, put on your marketing capes and prepare to dazzle with content that's as bold as it is brilliant. And, don’t forget to make your content interactive with a human element.

Meanwhile, over in the land of YouTube, Reuben Halper is dropping truth bombs faster than you can say "subscribe." Whether your content is long-form, short-form, remixes - YouTube is your playground, and is rated New Zealand’s favourite social platform.

YouTube is coming out with new innovations including their own tool which uses AI to translate your content across languages, which is needed with 54% of users following creators who speak a different language to them. How good is that!

Tool Talk

Now, let's talk tools. There is so much out there to choose from, it can be daunting knowing which tools to use. Here are some recommended options for you:

  • CapCut for reel magic.
  • Adobe’s generative AI for resizing imagery.
  • Later app for scheduling posts or
  • Sprout Social for predicting the best times to post.

So, there you have it, a quick recap of a great Brainy Breakfast event which had a lot of fantastic feedback! We hope to see you at the next event. Until next time, keep brainstorming, keep creating, and keep entertaining! 🥞✨

A big thank you to the team at Datamine for providing me with their notes to help write this blog.
