Encouraging Young Māori into Marketing as a Career
The Growth Project - Whakaahu Whakamua is a programme endorsed by Te Puni Kōkiri (Ministry of Māori Development) and delivered by ICE (Inspire, Create and Engage), to support the development of Māori to achieve their potential in the workplace, share their tikanga and progress into leadership positions. This programme partners with employers to offer Māori talent flexible career pathways including full-time, part-time or fixed term roles with the potential for a permanent role. The programmes development training introduces Māori students and graduates to the world of work and offers a range of key skills development workshops to support their success in their placements.
The NZ Marketing Association is thrilled to be working with ICE to take 16 young Māori through the Professional Certification in Marketing – Foundation Skills. Each of these students has been sponsored by 14 awesome Aotearoa companies to support their progress and hopefully to start in a career within the marketing industry. No programme has been run like this before and we at MA are proud to bring this innovation to help rangatahi into developing fabulous careers.
Maori Television turned up to our office to share the story. Watch it here!
