It's impossible to block out negative thoughts and emotions completely. Feeling nervous, angry, worried or sad are part of what makes us human.
But you can do a lot to improve your emotional wellbeing by taking more notice of positive emotions, and enjoying them as and when they come along.
It's not about the intensity of positive emotions. It's about making the most of the small, everyday perks that make you feel good in the here and now.
