Traders breach the Fair Trading Act if their claims are false or misleading, and/or if they are unsubstantiated, meaning there are not reasonable grounds for a claim at the time it is made, regardless of whether it is ultimately false or misleading or not.
The video includes guidance on claims such as "free range", "organic", and claims of origin such as "New Zealand grown". It is difficult for consumers to verify such product claims, and it is therefore easy for them to be misled.
